Pears on Cedar Grilling Plank: A Flavorful and Healthy Recipe

If you are looking for a delicious and healthy grilling recipe, look no further than pears on a cedar grilling plank. This dish is a simple yet flavorful way to incorporate fruit into your grilling routine. The natural sweetness of the pears is enhanced by the smokey flavors of the cedar plank, creating a unique and mouth-watering taste.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe pears
  • 1 cedar grilling plank
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Preparation

  1. Soak the cedar grilling plank in water for at least one hour prior to grilling.
  2. Preheat grill to medium heat.
  3. Cut the pears in half and remove the core.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. Brush the pear halves with the mixture.
  6. Place the pears on the cedar grilling plank, cut side down.
  7. Grill the pears for 10-15 minutes, until they are slightly charred and tender.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy!

Honey Ginger Cedar Plank Grilled Salmon with Avocado Salsa

Cook Time: 35 mins
Serves: 6

Ingredients:

  • 1 salmon fillet
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 cedar plank
  • 1 avocado
  • 1/2 red onion
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 tbsp cilantro, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Soak the cedar plank in water for 30 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the honey and grated ginger.
  3. Place the salmon fillet on the cedar plank and brush with the honey ginger mixture.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat and place the cedar plank with the salmon on it.
  5. Grill the salmon for 10-12 minutes or until cooked to your liking.
  6. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, mix the diced avocado, chopped red onion, lime juice, cilantro, salt, and pepper.
  7. Serve the grilled salmon with the avocado salsa on the side. Enjoy!

Grilled Shrimp Tacos with Slaw

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your grill or a grill pan to medium-high heat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the shrimp, olive oil, chili powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Toss until the shrimp are evenly coated.
  3. Grill the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes per side, until they are pink and cooked through. Remove from the grill and set aside.
  4. Warm the tortillas on the grill for about 10-15 seconds per side, until they are slightly charred and pliable.
  5. To assemble the tacos, place a small amount of shredded cabbage on each tortilla, followed by a few pieces of grilled shrimp. Top with diced tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro. Squeeze a wedge of lime over each taco before serving.

 

Rump steaks on Slider Grilling Plank 

Ingredients:

  • 4 rump steaks, about 200g each
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 tbsp. balsamic vinegar
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tsp. dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 cedar planks, soaked in water for at least 1 hour

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your braai (grill) to medium-high heat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  3. Brush both sides of the rump steaks with the marinade, using all of it.
  4. Place the soaked cedar planks directly on the braai grid and close the lid for about 5 minutes to let them heat up.
  5. Place the marinated rump steaks on the hot cedar planks, close the lid, and cook for about 8-10 minutes, depending on your desired level of doneness.
  6. Remove the steaks from the cedar planks and let them rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
